This soup is okay. I agree that beef stock would be amend. It'due south missing that hearty beef season. I omitted the potatoes and added elbow noodles trying to mimic Cracker Butt. All in all I would describe it as bland. Will try information technology again but with beef stock.

12/04/2011
This is the first time I take e'er fabricated homemade soup and my family loved it. I added a few things to add more flavor and information technology turned out perfect. 11/21/2010

I don't think information technology is fair to rate something afterwards one has changed then much to the recipe, so based but on the recipe I requite it v stars. Nonetheless I did terminate up adding a quick squirt of Worcestershire. Thanks for sharing this nifty and tasty meal.

Good solid soup recipe! Nothing strange or unusual here and not to spicey. I will definately be making this once more (probably next week.) Be aware though, this makes a lot of soup - I had 8 1 ane/2 cup servings. My pot couldn't have held anymore!

01/26/2010
I stock-still this soup for my family unit and they all loved it. Even my picky son enjoyed information technology. I will exist fixing it again before long. 01/19/2011

The merely difference in follwoing the receipe was that I only had Hunts diced tomatoes in Garlic and Herb. Merely it was Crawly! My girls and myself enjoyed it very much! ( 17, 10, 8 yr olds) Information technology WILL be added to the family menu :-)
ten/24/2012

fantabulous; add mushrooms and greenbeans for a fuller gustation
11/27/2011
This is such a nifty base recipe! I wanted to utilize leftover turkey and vegetables and so I could freeze it for later apply ( I left out the potatoes for this reason). I used chicken buillion, half a quart more h2o, added 1 8oz can of tomato sauce, and as many vegetables as I wanted! I'yard puerto rican, so I added some sofrito, and oh my gosh this came out succulent. I put brown rice out on the table so everyone could add it as they wanted!
01/03/2011
I tried several easy vegetable soup recipes earlier I landed on this ane. It's my family unit's favorite and so like shooting fish in a barrel to brand! Sometimes I may add a few more than tomatoes or throw in some lima beans; merely it is adept just the fashion it is written here!
10/25/2012
Good recipe, but with a few tweaks, it was succulent! First, I ditched the water and burgoo cubes and used low sodium beef broth instead. Also, I browned the onions (along with a few minced cloves of garlic and some chopped celery) with the meat. I substituted basis turkey for the beefiness to make information technology bacteria also. I also added some basil to the broth while simmering. With these changes, it went from super salty and a bit ho-hum to leaner, tastier and a real keeper!
11/04/2004
Good recipe. I liked information technology, only it didn't hit the spot for my daughter. She's four and loves Denny's vegetable beef soup.....kinda difficult to mimic that. Anyway, I recollect if beef broth/stock is used instead of water information technology tastes better. Fifty-fifty then, at that place was still something I couldn't quite put my finger on. Withal good and however in my recipe box!
07/twenty/2012
Nice, easy-on-the-stomach soup. I did make a few changes simply because I was missing some ingredients. I used sweetness spud instead of white; two large tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes; 2 white onions instead of just 1; 3 chopped carrots; and about 2 cups of frozen peas. Very nice and piece of cake soup...volition definitely make once more!
01/17/2011
I thought this was a great and easy soup. I left a lilliputian of the fat in it and added 2 spoonfuls of love apple paste. Information technology had a wonderful flavor. The boys loved it and it is even better the next day.
x/24/2012
I make this soup alot. I add 1 loving cup of elbow macaroni (cooked 4 minutes and tuckered every bit it volition cook more in the broth) and use stewed tomatoes or sometimes Italian mode tomatoes, Mexican diced tomatoes to vary the flavors a bit. We call it "The Recipe" soup.
03/19/2013
A very piece of cake recipe that is simply patently, old, practiced, home cooking. You could easily tweak this to your likings. I made it, exactly as the recipe called for, and found information technology a comforting meal on a cold night. Nada fancy, just good.
01/26/2013
This is a corking recipe. I did arrange and add to this only because I had ingredients on hand. I added a tin of rotel instead of canned tomatoes, 1 small can of tomato plant sauce and Lipton onion soup mix. I also added worchestire sauce to taste. I precooked potatoes half manner and heated water and mixed in beef bouillon cubes. I put all ingredients in ho-hum cooker for about 4 hours. Wow, so skillful.
08/19/2012
Pretty good. I'm not much on cooking from scratch but this seemed pretty like shooting fish in a barrel to brand. I didn't deviate from the recipe, just changed a few things. I used 2 qts of beef stock instead of water and added 1 can of tomato sauce. Used a tin of diced potatoes. Added a bit of flour to thicken.
x/31/2012
I made this a couple nights ago and it was goooood! I used those new Knorr beefiness flavor packets instead of bouillon cubes and added some Worcestershire sauce and basil, every bit others had suggested. Information technology was even better the side by side day. This will be a keeper for me.
ten/27/2012
This recipe is a great base for a beef vegetable soup. The recipe as is has style besides much salt, probably secondary to the boullion. So instead of the boullion I used homemade beef stock, a recipe from this site and added minced garlic and one 1/2 tsp of thyme. I as well added chopped celery and added fresh light-green beans to the veggie mixture. Thank you for submitting this recipe for us. Laura
12/18/2009
This fabricated a keen base for a beefiness soup that a beginner (me) could hands make and add to! Thanks.
01/08/2002

ten/24/2012
Added the onions and garlic to the meat. Microwaved the beefiness cubes. Added a tbs of WS. Made a ton, more for tomorrow!
10/24/2012
This sounds very tasty, if you use mediterranean veggies that have red beans in them and some broken spagetti this would make a dandy minestrone.
12/09/2014
I made this soup a few days ago, and it's a keeper. The but affair I did a picayune differently was when the ground beef started to get chocolate-brown, that'due south when I added the onions, three gloves of garlic, black pepper, and 2tbs of Worcestershire Sauce. Once the onions got brown, I added 5 14.5 oz. cans of Low Sodium Beef Goop, and also added 3 Beef Goop Cubes just to give it that actress flavor. I also did what a few other reviewers did, and that was add together 2tbs of lycopersicon esculentum paste to the soup. And once information technology was almost done, I added some other 2tbs more of Worcestershire Sauce to the soup, and more than black pepper. This soup is "Great!!!!! The next time I brand this once more, I volition add some fresh cut Cord Beans to the mix.
11/30/2014
The recipe is rather bland.
10/24/2012
It was okay but a little bland. I fabricated information technology a second fourth dimension simply used beef broth instead of burgoo, added 3/iv c. barley, i/2 celery, fresh garlic, and a bay foliage. After I made it I placed in crock pot and cook on low then we tin eat anytime.
02/04/2014
I made a few adds to make this soup have some more flavor. I added some chopped celery, chopped ruddy bell pepper,a bundle of onion soup mix and only 2 of the beef bouillon cubes, also a bay leaf. E'er gotta accept a bay leaf in your veggie soup :)
11/eleven/2009
So easy and great! But change I made was that I added a tin of tomato soup.
10/24/2012
I added onions to the hamburger and browned information technology for a little while and poured out the grease before adding the other ingredients. Then I added some sugariness basil because otherwise it was rather banal tasting. You can even add together cabbage to this if you like it.
08/28/2006
Easy and very delicous. Great for the working mom!
10/24/2012
Very easy. Close to the fashion I make it. I decrease number of bouillon cubes (also salty), add celery, omit mixed vegetables and instead use some frozen greenish beans, carrots, and corn. Add some thyme and marjoram for more flavour. Add barley concluding few minutes of cooking. Good basic recipe hither! Soup season is upon us!
12/05/2012
Not bad, merely not my favorite.
01/07/2018
This was absolutely succulent! I used Knorr make beef burgoo cubes and opted out of the frozen vegetable mix. Instead I added the fresh potato cubes as per recipe. And also put in fresh carrot and celery with a chopped love apple. Also frozen lima beans and spinach. Yum! Good recipe! Tastes like Denny's!
02/xiii/2017
My family and I really enjoyed this soup. Based on other reviews I replaced the bullion with a quart of low sodium beefiness broth and the juice that was in the diced tomatoes and I added a tin of stewed tomatoes too.

It was delicious I added Lima beans and green beans and corn with some vegetable broth

This soup is incredibly easy to make. I added 3 cloves of finely chopped garlic. The soup has a good beefy flavor. Will definitely make once more.
10/25/2012
I've been making this recipe for years. I add together a quart of beef goop and only apply 2 beef bouillon cubes and I, also, season the soup with stale basil, parsley, and garlic powder. Easy and delicious!!
02/18/2015
I like this recipe. The only drawback was, I thought the vegetables were over done being simmered for 45 minutes. I retrieve side by side time i will let the meat simmer for the first twenty 5 minutes with the onion and tomatoes, and add together the other vegetables for the last twenty minutes. Soup had great flavor.
12/09/2014
Good recipe but needed more rich flavor. I used canned beef consomme to give it more than body & flavour. Added more than garlic & Italian seasonings. Sprinkled parmesan cheese on superlative.
01/04/2015
Very easy and super tasty Great for a cold afternoon!
11/30/2014
I accept been making this bones soup for many, many years with a couple additional items ... I add together a bear upon of oregano, & I also add Knorr's chicken tomato plant bouillon ... I use frozen o'brien potatoes, any pocket-sized pasta I take & some of my balmy, homemade salsa .... my twin sister started me making this soup & now most of the women in our family makes this soup, adding their own personal touches ... we do make sure that the meat is seasoned to our taste ... my sister besides uses what ever meat/poultry she had left over ... but I have ever stuck with ground beef ... I rated this on the basic here ...
12/02/2014
piece of cake to brand taste great
eleven/thirty/2014
This is adept.
12/04/2014

xi/24/2013
Loved it!! Very easy and my boyfriend ate information technology up (he's non a big vegetable fan.). I used canned burn down roasted tomatoes. I might likewise endeavor basis turkey next time. Cheers!
01/08/2015
I really liked this recipe. Information technology is so easy to make and the results are very practiced. I followed the directions very closely. I felt like the soup was a little greasy even though I tried to skim off as much fat as possible. I idea it was going to exist too bland but after I let it simmer for a while, it cooked down a bit, and the beef season became more than concentrated. I did utilise beef bouillon but I think next fourth dimension I make this I'll apply a combination of beef stock and a tomato plant juice similar V8. This recipe makes a lot of soup. I liked this much improve than ownership a canned soup. Thanks for a very good, easy, satisfying recipe.
03/15/2006
Very expert, very easy.
eleven/30/2014
I make this blazon of soup frequently, but I never use water in information technology. I use V8 juice, or even sometimes, just the generic brand, plus the bouillon cubes and veggies. I don't similar a lot of potatoes in mine but my hubby does. I dice up some potatoes like for homemade potato soup, and always a small to medium onion. Love the soup recipe.
xi/06/2012
Information technology was chock-full of veggies and hearty potatoes, which was swell, but the broth was just alright. Next time I will do something to season-up the broth, whether to add together a little chili sauce or utilise a spicy-hot V8 or something...
10/24/2012
I have eaten this soup since I was a child my mother made this soup, and so I made it & now my girl makes it.
11/04/2012
The amount of sodium is almost the daily recomended serving. I substituted all those boullion cubes and water for beef goop.
12/05/2014
I fabricated this soup a few days ago. The recipe is easy...and very, very like shooting fish in a barrel if you don't have to get to the grocery store to purchase the ingredients. This soup is very flavorful. To increase the flavor, I used 1 quart of beefiness broth (I had a carton on paw I wanted to use) and 1 quart of water. Yum!!!!
10/24/2012
Excellent, used stale vegetables, it was soooo adept!!
12/02/2014

I will definitely arrive again.
11/29/2012
Fabricated EXACTLY as the recipe says and it was great! It'due south doesn't specify...just I didn't drain the tin can of tomatoes, just FYI. Skilful for a cold winter day!
10/27/2012
For veg beef soup with ground beef this repast is so easy! I found that the groc store sells bags of veg soup veggies. I did not use it but would in a rush! Five stars for a healthy, simple and yummy meal!
11/30/2014
I add together ground red chili powder, granulated garlic, & comino (cumin) to go far a "Texas" soup!
02/25/2015

12/01/2014
I brand this often in the winter. The only difference in my version is that I add Worcestershire and a bay foliage.
01/21/2013
I gave this a four because there was manner likewise many veggies (16oz purse) in this soup. I used beef goop instead of water and deglazed the pan that I browned the beef in with wine - I substituted ane loving cup elbow noodles for the potatoes and used a can of diced tomatoes due west/garlic, oregano and basil. Next time I'll use fresh veggies instead of the frozen - the frozen kind of defeats the purpose of homemade, but adept in a pinch.
12/06/2014
I liked this recipe- like shooting fish in a barrel and flavorful. I took some other reviewers' advice and added Worcestershire sauce, picayune tomato paste, garlic powder, basil. Volition definitely make over again! Be aware it makes a practiced sized batch- froze half for a quick dinner side by side week.
11/30/2014
I did not care for the flavor and there was fashion likewise much sodium
ten/25/2012
To Marthaf: The celary and carrots would near likely be in the 1 (sixteen ounce) packet frozen mixed vegetables listed in the ingrediants : )
01/04/2013
I've made this twice at present and turned out very good and my family unit likes it alot. My mother already wants the recipe. I used ground turkey for health reasons and like another reviewer used tomatoe paste to thicken, used mostly beef broth, added a trivial italian seasoning and a pinch of cayanne to give it a little more than flavor. Delicious with biscuits and like shooting fish in a barrel to freeze.
01/01/2014
I made this recipe (as anybody should earlier they charge per unit). It was quick, inexpensive and delicious. Information technology does make a lot of soup, so it'southward good for family gatherings. I was able to take a container full to my in-laws. I had never made vegetable soup before. It was so easy. I will definitely arrive again...perfect for a long, tiring twenty-four hour period after work. Now having said that, next time I will try using beef goop just out of marvel.
03/09/2013
Dear this bones recipe. To make information technology my own, I added 1 clove diced garlic and 1 TBSP. Worcestershire while browning the beefiness and onion together. Instead of the beef bullion, I used 4 C beefiness broth and four cups water. Information technology was and then good, the whole family loved information technology.
05/06/2017
This is my go-to soup and has been for years! I found this here on Allrecipes when I was a single girl & its at present a regular addition considering the hubby & picky kids love it! When I have nada clue on what to make for dinner, this is it! Its very tasty! I use my kirkland frozen veggies along with whatever else is in the veggie drawer. I've made this with footing beef, basis turkey & even frozen meatballs! Make certain yous season your meat, thats so super important. While its humid the seasonings that you employ on your beef sweat & meld with the residual of your soup. Can't go incorrect with this in your recipe collection, you lot'll utilize it over & over!
eleven/09/2017
Soup is fine the mode information technology is, just even with my few substitutions and additions, it still needs more flavour and seasoning. I used beef goop and stock instead of water, used red potatoes since this volition get a bunch of freezer meals, added a package of Lipton'southward Beefy Soup Mix, splashes of worcester sauce, basil, and leftover celery. A very easy recipe to put together. Smells amazing while cooking! It'll be cracking for easy weekday dinners, but I'm not sure I'll make this particular recipe again.

01/30/2019

I cook the onion with the footing beef and added some garlic. My hubby loves this soup!! He asks me to make it every week.
11/30/2014
This recipe, every bit written, is completely tasteless. I then tried to doctor up the recipe adding herbs, garlic and spices. It was meliorate. My husband, who loves my cooking, said information technology didn't taste like it came from our kitchen. Not going to endeavour recipe a 2nd time, and will just stick to my personal recipe for vegetable and beef soup.
08/20/2019
I made this soup for the first time last nighttime! It was delicious! I bought the grass fed basis beef, so put a little Worcestershire sauce and a packet of the Liptons beefy onion soup mix similar another person suggested. I also omitted the potatoes, merely did add some basil. I grated some Parmesan reggiano cheese on top to serve. The next fourth dimension I will double the recipe!
09/24/2013
Very good start. I like a thicker consistancy, so I recommend making a rue with some of the meat fat or butter and flour in the beginning or brown gravy mix with a little hot water 'til shine and adding to the pot. I seasoned some cubed steak (elk) and seasoned information technology with table salt and pepper, and then sauted with with the onions and a couple cloves of minced garlic. This was a groovy mode to use up leftover boiled potatoes or those nasty frozen mixed veggies.
11/19/2012
Dear this receipe!! Have mixed it up with frozen onions, because I had them in the freezer and didn't have fresh. I too at the end added canned potatoes because I was out of fresh. Great receipe to utilize pantry items or frozen extras. Beloved information technology Honey it Dearest it!!! Cheers to Marne! I also added pasta, ditalini, or petty type pasta works great
03/07/2016
I made this. However, I wanted to use our venison loin chops nosotros had on hand. I cut the sparse chops into mesomorphic cubes, then braised them with some onion mixed in the saute' pan. Also, I used the V-eight juice every bit a base, and threw in a splash of merlot!
08/xx/2019
I made this soup for the first time concluding night! It was delicious! I bought the grass fed ground beef, so put a piddling Worcestershire sauce and a packet of the Liptons bulky onion soup mix similar some other person suggested. I also omitted the potatoes, but did add some basil. I grated some Parmesan reggiano cheese on top to serve. The next time I will double the recipe!
12/01/2014
Made this soup today! Piece of cake & delicious! Added V-8 juice 4 fiddling more flavour!
06/29/2017
I made this recipe using beef broth and Italian way diced tomatoes since that was what I had available. It came out very good. Will arrive once again equally it is very fast to make too.
09/30/2016
This was so easy and and so adept. I did non use any beef considering I was sharing with someone who cannot swallow beef, simply I did apply a beef stock. I will absolutely make this again. With or without the beefiness.
12/16/2012
This is EASY and every one likes it. Thanks
08/23/2018
When I was at the shop I couldn't discover regular diced tomatoes, then I went with the Basil, Organo and Parsley flavored one. Information technology added and then much season to it. Information technology was so delicious! Picky kid and grandmother approved! The ingredients were cheap as well! Definitely will be making over again!
07/31/2017
Very like shooting fish in a barrel to make and delicious! Substituted unsalted stock for beef boulion - table salt-to-sense of taste.

This is awesome soup! It has just enough flavour and it tastes delicious!
03/23/2020
I didn't make whatever changes, but next time I make it, I'll add a few more spices - maybe a nuance of thyme, a bay leaf, etc. Loved information technology as is though!
09/08/2018
Rainy day and we wanted soup. Made this and family loved it. No leftovers.
11/04/2017
Beloved this, only I add together a chip of h2o and virtually 1/ii c white rice or barley at the beginning. Pocket-size pasta would work as well.
